First post!

I'm going to try to make a post in this journal each time I practice, so I can record what I did, the things I have trouble with, and any progress I make.  I'm hoping that looking back over these posts will help me remember my discoveries and give me a better sense for my progress.

This isn't intended for anyone but me to read, but you're welcome to follow along if you like.

Right now I'm working on Villa Lobos's Etude No. 2 and Barrios's Una Limosna por el Amor de Dios. In VL #2, I'm working on smooth dynamics (crescendo ascending, descrescendo descending) and on the tough barre chords on the second page.   In Una Limosna I'm working on a smooth tremolo (through exercises from Vladimir Bobri's "Complete Study of Tremolo for the Classic Guitar" --- they really help!) and also on coherent dynamics.

Today a discovery came during an open E major scale.  I noticed myself stretching to move from 2 to 4 on adjacent notes and remembered Yuri's advice to shift in similar cases.  I made a video to check with him, and indeed he recommended the shift.  In general I think I need to consider shifting more as a way to stay more on the tip of my 4 -- I tend to use its pad too much.

Another discovery I made (yesterday) is that I found my right shoulder holding a lot of tension during Una Limosna.  I thought about its position and realized it was being pulled forward by how my right arm was draped over the guitar, and I experimented with opening my right leg more to the right so the guitar could move back, letting my shoulder be more aligned with my spine.  I think it helps a bit.
